What to Expect From Private Yoga
Booking a private yoga session, especially if you've never done one before, can feel like a bit of a mystery. Here's exactly what it looks like when you book with me.
Before we meet
We connect ahead of time so I can get a feel for you and your group. Are you seasoned practitioners or total beginners? Is the vibe more restorative and slow, or do you want to move and sweat a little? I'll come with ideas and we'll land on something that actually fits.
The day of
I arrive about ten minutes early to get everything set up with mats, props, music, so that by the time you walk in, the space already feels ready. You don't have to think about a thing.
Once we start, you have my full attention. I'm watching how you move, adjusting the pace, reading the room. That's the whole point of private yoga, is that it shifts with you in real time in a way a studio class simply can't.
I also love helping groups capture the moment. If you want photos together before or after, I'm there for it.
The atmosphere
Music matters more than people realize. I put real thought into the playlist because it sets the tone before anyone even moves. Depending on what you're going for, we might open with something grounding and ambient, build through the practice, and land somewhere soft and still at the end. The music is part of the experience, not background noise.
I bring everything needed to make the space feel intentional, whether we're in your living room, on a deck overlooking the mountains, or in a backyard in Woodstock. Wherever you are, we make it feel like somewhere worth being.
How you'll feel after
This is my favorite part to describe because it's a little paradoxical, you’ll feel energized and restored at the same time. Like you did something good for yourself without depleting yourself.
Who is private yoga for?
Just about everyone. I work with complete beginners who feel intimidated by studio classes, seasoned practitioners who want focused one-on-one attention, couples looking for something meaningful to do together, bachelorette groups wanting to add intention to their weekend, corporate groups and retreats, and people coming back to movement after an injury or a long time away. If you've ever thought "yoga isn't really for me," a private session is usually what changes that.
Common questions
Do I need to be flexible? Not at all. Flexibility is a result of practice, not a requirement for it. We start exactly where you are.
What if I've never done yoga before? That's completely fine. I'll walk you through everything.
Can you come to my Airbnb or rental house? Yes, that's exactly how this works. I come to you, whether you're staying in Hunter, Windham, Woodstock, Tannersville, or anywhere else in the Catskills and Hudson Valley. All you need is a little floor space.
What do I need to bring? Nothing. I bring mats, props, and music. Just show up comfortable.
How long is a session? Sessions are typically 60 or 90 minutes depending on what works best for your group.
If you're curious about booking, I'd love to hear from you.
