Serene Girls Weekend in Woodstock, NY
There are places that call you before you even know why, and this past weekend I was called to one of them: a beautiful property tucked into the hills of Woodstock, New York, complete with a gorgeous home, winding stone walkways, and a Yoga studio overlooking a video wall of blooming perennial gardens. The property felt familiar to me as I remembered it was owned by a dear friend years ago.

I was there for a girls weekend, a group of longtime friends who had carved out a few days to step away from their everyday lives and simply be together. Good company, good food, and the kind of rest that comes from being surrounded by people who know you well.
We spent our time together moving through a full and complete yoga practice designed to meet everyone exactly where they were. We started by centering as a group, settling into the space and into each other's presence. From there we moved into breathwork, working with square breathing and deep belly breathing to steady the nervous system and bring everyone into their bodies. We warmed up intuitively, letting the movement build naturally rather than forcing it, and then eased into a flow that was challenging but never out of reach.

The highlight of the practice, and my speciality as a teacher, came when all five women found their first headstand. There is nothing quite like watching someone go upside down for the first time. The mix of focus on their faces, and then the pure joy that follows once they realize their body can hold them there. It is a powerful reminder of what we are capable of when we trust ourselves and have the right support around us.
We closed the practice with a long, restorative savasana, letting the whole weekend settle into the body. By the time everyone rolled up their mats, the room felt different. Softer. Connected.
The perfect place to practice Yoga in Woodstock, NY
Weekends like this are exactly why I love bringing yoga into spaces like this one. Woodstock has a way of holding people gently, and pairing that with a thoughtful practice creates something that stays with you long after you leave.
